Portugal has selected its representative, Vânia Fernandes, with the song Senhora Do Mar composed by Andrej Babic, to sing at the 53rd Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade.

The results Festival da Canção 2008 were:

In 1st place: SENHORA DO MAR – Vânia Fernandes – 35% of vote ***(Winner)***
In 2nd place: OBRIGATÓRIO TER – Alex Smith – 14% of vote
In 3rd place: EM ÁGUA E SAL – Marco Rodrigues – 12% of vote

Last year the Portugal was represented by Sabrina who finished 11th in the semi-finalat Helsinki. Portugal has never won the Eurovision Song Contest in its 42 appearances.
