Jade Ewen will play Princess Jasmine in the stage adaptation of the Disney animated film, Aladdin.
It’s official, she wrote to her followers on Twitter. I can’t wait to be a Disney Princess!
The show will begin performances at London’s Prince Edward Theatre on 27 May 2016, with its official opening night on 9 June. Jade will be joined on stage by actor Dean-John Wilson in the title role and by the American Broadway star, Trevor Dion Nicholas, who will play the Genie. The cast also boasts Daniel de Bourg, known to audiences in the UK from his appearance in the fourth series of the X Factor back in 2007.
Jade represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009 with the song It’s my time, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Her fifth-place finish made her the UK’s most successful entry in the last 15 years. She has since appeared in a number of high-profile musicals in London, including Porgy and Bess at the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and, most recently, as Vanessa in The Heights at the Kings Cross Theatre.
