London's biggest independent radio station, Capital 95.8 FM have made their Eurovision decision! They're backing The Revelations to win the United Kingdom ticket to Belgrade on Saturday night. They will be interviewing the trio live tonight on the station and the broadcast is available via their website. The United Kingdom's national final Eurovision: Your Decision takes place at 19:00 on Saturday night.
Speaking exclusively to esctoday.com this afternoon, Capital told us "We had a listen to them all and we think The Revelations have the best chance of winning, they sound funky, a bit Abba-like. They're a true authentic London-based band and its good for the Capital".
The radio station's interest in the Eurovision Song Contest is growing. During the chart show after the Helsinki show last year, they played clips of some of the songs that competed with Scooch and the Ukraine's Verka Serduchka, who entered the chart on download sales alone one week after the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest. including Belarus' Work your magic. They havelaunched aspecial section on their website dedicated to the Eurovision Song Contest, showing that British media interest is slowly but surely growing again.
It has been notablyhard for European acts to score commercial success in the United Kingdom, especially with songs that are not in the English language. Capital radio is one of the largest radio stations in Europe, and this is good news for Eurovision fans that would like to see songs becoming commercial hits in the United Kingdom, the world's second largest music industry, once again.
Tonight's show will be broadcast on Capital Radio 95.8 FM from 20:45 UK time and online here (21:45 CET). Tomorrow Morning, Michelle Gayle, a fellow Londoner will be appearing on the Breakfast Show with Johnny and Denise.
