The Netherlands: The Common Linnets & Douwe Bob win DCMA Awards

The Common Linnets and their lead-singer Ilse DeLange, who represented the Netherlands at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark, were the grand winners of the Dutch Country Music Association Awards gala 2015. Douwe Bob, who will represent the Netherlands at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden, has also won an award.

The Common Linnets and lead-singer Ilse DeLange won a total of three Dutch Country Music Association Awards: Best Female Vocalist of the Year (Ilse DeLange), Best Electric Band of the Year (The Common Linnets) and Best Album of the Year (The Common Linnets for their debut album, The Common Linnets). In a response, The Common Linnets said:

Douwe Bob won the DCMA-award for Best Male Vocalist of the Year.

The DCMA Awards gala is an annual event initiated by the Dutch Country Music Association.

The Common Linnets, centred around Dutch Artist Ilse DeLange, represented the Netherlands at Eurovision 2014. Together with one-time singing partner Waylon, Ilse DeLange and The Common Linnets won the first semi-final and earned the second place in the grand final with 238 points, with the song Calm after the storm. The song became a huge hit across Europe, and sparked The Common Linnets’ success.

Douwe Bob Posthuma was chosen internally by Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS to represent the Netherlands at Eurovision 2016.
