Armenia: Athena Manoukian to Stockholm?

Who is the mystery girl in the teaser? Is it Athena Manoukian? She flew into Yerevan late last month and is currently appearing and promoting herself on Armenian television and media.

The Greek born Armenian singer/songwriter is currently visiting Armenia. Athena has a musical repertoire behind her and enjoys name and fame in Greece,where she has released her music in Greek. She is visiting Armenia for the very first time.

Athena has been perfoming on stage since she was very young. She tried to represent Greece at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, having competed in the national final. She released her first single Party like a freak in 2011.

Athena was recently interviewed by Armpress.am where she stated :

It would be an honour to represent Armenia at the Eurovision Song Contest.

Will it be Athena? Will she fly the Armenian flag in Stockholm next May?

ARMTV has opted for a female singer to fly the Armenian flag in Stockholm. Who could it be? Do we already know her? Has she been to Eurovision before?

Yesterday the Armenian broadcaster released a teaser revealing that the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest candidate from Armenia is a solo female and showcasing her profile. The news went viral gearing up both excitement and anticipation among Eurovision fans worldwide.

There are several names that are currently sounding as the potential candidate to represent Armenia at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision edition: Sirusho, Athena Manoukian, Iveta Mukuchyan, Lilit Hovhannisyan, Mary-Jean O’Doherty Vasmatzian (Genealogy),Tamar Kaprelian (Genealogy).

Armenia has gone internal once more in order to select its Eurovision entry and act for Eurovision 2016 like in the past years. The 2016 Armenian entry will be revealed on 13 October at 17:15 CET during AMPTV’s Profession of a Journalist TV Show. The show will be aired live and you can follow it here.

In 2015 Armenia selected its Eurovision entry and act for Vienna via an internal selection. Genealogy represented Armenia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with their entry Face the shadow.

Armenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and is yet to win the event. The country achieved its best placing in the contest in 2008 with Sirusho and in 2014 with Aram Mp3, placing 4th on both occasions.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 October at the Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
