The duo Andreas Johnson and Carola Häggkvist were favorites to win in the second Melodifestivalen semi final. They were even favorites to win the whole competition. But when the votes were cast by the viewers, one of the biggest surprises in Melodifestivalen history was a fact. The super duo (with first, second and third places in the last 2 years) only made it to the Second Chance round. Today the Swedish media wrote about the losers, the winners and interview reactions from the stars.

The headlines in the tabloids didn’t wait, Aftonbladet wrote “Sanna takes over the schlager throne”, “Sannadefeats Carola – and cried rivers of happiness”. Expressen have the headlines “Fiasco : Carola – People are maybe tired of me”. GP writes “The surprise in Västerås. Rongedal and Sanna Nielsen sendbig favourite Carola to Kiruna”. SVD says “Unexpected winners. The big surprise: Rongedal stole Carola and Andreas Johnsons victory”. Similar headlines can be find on other newspapers like DN.

Expressen talked to Johnson & Häggkvist about the results, why the came to Andra chansen and not the final – "I do not know, I won in 2006 and Andreas did well the two last years. Perhaps the peopleare not curious any more for us". Carola said.

"We have sat down in our hotel room with all the people thatwork with us, drank champagne and talked about the week,it's been fantastic for us" said Andreas. – "We are very satisfied, it maybe the best thing that could happened, that people will feel that it not a due they can take for granted if you want to see us in Globen and if you want to see us in Europe with One Love. So our fans need to vote for us now… We can still go to Belgrade". Carola told Aftonbladet.
