UPD Tonight: fourth quarter final in Belgium

Tonight, the fourth and last quarter final of Eurosong 2008, the Belgian national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, will be held. Five songs will compete for two places in the semi finals. There will be no webcast.

The show

The show, which will again be hosted by Bart Peeters,starts at 20:50 CET. The top two songs of the televoting will go directly to the semi finals. The third and fourth placed songs will be in the running to get one of the jury wildcards. Marcel Vanthilt, jury member since 1999, will be joined by Kris Wauters from Clouseau (Belgium 1991) and Katrina Leskanich, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 in Dublin, where she sang Love shine a light together with The Waves.

01. Francesco Palmeri – Vagabundo

Francesco Palmeri takes part in Eurosong 2008 with Vagabundo. The song was entirely written by Francesco Palmeri himself. We mainly know him from the live band of Belle Perez, but last summer he put himself in the picture for the first time with the radio hit Yaka Dansé as a result.

02. Paranoiacs – Shout it out

The Paranoiacs take part in Eurosong 2008 with Shout It Out. Hans Stevens wrote the music of the song. His brother Raf Stevens was in charge of the lyrics. Together they are the leaders of the Paranoiacs, a band that has been making music for almost 25 years and already scored a couple of hits.

03. Elisa – Around the world

Elisa takes part in Eurosong 2008 with Around The World. The song was written by Ove André Brenna, a songwriter from Norway. 16 year-old Elisa Guarraci got known in Flanders last year when she participated in Top Model on Kanaal Twee, but Elisa also has singing ambitions which she'll show in Eurosong 2008.

04. A Butterfly Mind – Lonely heart on wheels

A Butterfly Mind takes part in Eurosong 2008 with Lonely Heart On Wheels. The song was written by Annelies Cappaert, the eldest of the Cappaert sisters. Together with her sister Sarah she became famous thanks to a participation in X-Factor on VTM. Eurosong is the next competition they're taking part in

05. Sandrine – I feel the same way

Sandrine takes part in Eurosong 2008 with I Feel The Same Way. The song was written by Lawson / Vettese / Howard, the three songwriters who earlier wrote Sandrine's biggest hit so far, Goosebumps. Sandrine was discovered in Idols 2004 on VTM. This year she plans to release new material.

Last year the Walloon broadcaster submittedthe entry LovePower which was performed by the KMG's and finished 26th in the semi finalgetting 14 points- 12 of them from debuting country Georgia. The last time an entry by the Flemish broadcaster reached the top 10 was back in 1977! In 2008, Belgium will take part in the first semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest on 20th May.
