Moldova: TRM confirms participation in Eurovision 2016

TRM, the Moldovan national broadcaster has confirmed its participation at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm next May.

Thus Moldova is the 37th country to confirm its participation at the forthcoming  2016 Eurovision Song Contest.

The deadline for countries to submit their respective applications in order to participate at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest concluded on Tuesday 15 September, herefater all applicant countries had a grace period until 10 October to decide if they were to stay in the competition or not without facing a financial penalty.

Moldova will yet again select its Eurovision act and entry via a national selection. The 2016 Moldovan national final has been set on 27 February.  You can find the rules and regulations here.

In 2015 Moldova selected its Eurovision act and song for Vienna via a national selection. Eduard Romanyuta was awarded the golden ticket to represent Moldova at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest with his entry I want your love. Despite an energetic performance Moldova failed to qualify to the grand final.

Moldova debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and is yet to win the contest. The country’s best placing was a 6th place in 2005 when it debuted at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev with Zdob Si Zdub‘s Bunika Bate Toba!

Moldova has not missed a single contest since its debut in 2005, having competed a total of 11 times in the event.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
