ERR, the Estonian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Estonia will compete in the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Sweden next year. Thus Estonia is the 5th country to cofirm its participation for next year’s contest.

Estonia made waves this year at the Eurovision Song Contet this year with their entry Goodbye to yesterday, which placed 7th in the Grand Final. Elina Born and Stig Rästa won the 2015 Estonian national final Eesti Laul and were awarded the golden ticket to represent Estonia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

It is more than likely that Estonia will yet again opt for their annual Eurovision national selection Eesti Laul in order to select their Eurovision entry and act for 2016. More details regarding the 2016 Estonian Eurovision project and plans will be released in the coming months.

Estonia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Silvi Vrait and won the event in 2001 in Copenhagen with Tanel Padar‘s and Dave Benton‘s Eveybody.

The preliminary dates of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest have been set on 10,12 and 14 May.

Stay tuned to ESCToday for the latest news on Estonia and the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.
