Serbian Balkanmedia informs that the Serbian broadcaster RTS plans to pay a tribute to the tragically deceased singer Tose Proeski during the semi-final interval act of Beovizija 2008, Serbian preselections to the Eurovision Song Contest. He represented FYR Macedonia at the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest and was one of the most popular singers in the Balkan region.
RTS plans to invite famous artists who had worked with Tose Proeski before his tragic death in October last year. Among them Zeljko Joksimovic who represented Serbia and Montenegro in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with Lane Moje scoring second place, Anja Rupel from Slovenia, Antonija Sola who will take part in the Croatioan national final Dora 2008 andEsma Redzepova.
"Tose Proeski was in the first edition of Beovizija (before it became the Eurovision selection show, and was a music award show)and that is why we would like to commemorate this great signer" said Duska Vucinic, the spokesperson for RTS, adding that the final list of singers who will take part in the tribute concert for Tose Proeski will be published during the next week.
Beovizija was organised for the first time in 2003, exactly one year before the debut of Serbia and Montenegro in the Eurovision Song Contest. Tose Proeski won the first edition with a song Cija si which became a top chart hit in the Balkan region.
Tose Proeski died in a car accident in Croatia on 16th October 2007. He represented the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia in the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest with a song Life, placing 18th in the final.
