Eurovision Odds Day 5: Shuffling, but stalemate at the top

by Richard West-Soley 298 views

A fifth day in Vienna sees a bumper crop of first semfinalist rehearsals, and esctoday.com once again turns to the bookies’ tables and asks: has it shaken things up?

The pattern is one of shuffling about today, rather than big changes. However, a flurry of activity seems to have pushed Estonia back into the race for fourth favourite place ahead of Russia, although there is very little to separate the odds of the two countries at the moment. Neither are a threat to Australia’s third placing with the bookies right now, although, of course, the Australian team still has to complete its first stage outing in Vienna.

A little further down, Slovenia edges ahead of Norway, whilst Georgia and Cyprus push Albania down and out of the top fifteen favourites.

Stalemate at the top

The top three are unchanged, as they have been for some time now. However, two of them, Australia and Italy, are automatic finalists, and only one of them – current favourite to win, Sweden – has been seen in rehearsal. With the finalists’ first rehearsals drawing closer, attention is on whether good performances strengthen their current top three positions, or disappointing ones see them lose ground. In the meantime, nothing seems to break the stalemate at the top of the board.
