The 60th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria, has finally officially kicked off! Yesterday, Sunday the 10th of May 2015, the delegations of the participating countries started to arrive. One of the first delegations to land in Vienna was The Netherlands, with artist Trijntje Oosterhuis in the centre of interest.

Songcontest.ORF.at describes Trijntje Oosterhuis‘ arrival in Vienna, and interviewed the Dutch singer. About 14.00 PM Trijntje Oosterhuis landed in Vienna, to be welcomed by a team of volunteers, Janine, Markus, Diana and team-leader Frank. Furthermore, the colourful character Austrofrank gave Trijntje Oosterhuis a very Austrian welcome, presenting her with a bottle of Marillenschnaps, a type of Austrian apricot brandy.

Trijntje Oosterhuis feels very welcome in Austria, and looks forward to her time in Vienna and her participation in Eurovision. She has traveled to Vienna with quite a large team. As she told Songcontest.ORF.at:

I have brought four backing singers with me, but the entire crew consists of about 25 people. These include people from the record company and some journalists.

Trijntje Oosterhuis is full of positive energy and excited about her time in Vienna:

I am most looking forward to singing and my performance on stage. It is so beautiful to be here. I would of course also want to see something of Vienna, when I have the time. So many people have told me wonderful things about the Sisi-museum, I would really like to take a look at that. I have been to Vienna a couple of times before, but I have never had the time to go sight-seeing, because I always had to work.

Trijntje Oosterhuis also likes to get to know the other participants better:

I have seen some participants very briefly at Eurovision In Concert in Amsterdam, but did not really have the time to get to know them more closely. Hopefully I can make up for that in the coming days.

Besides being an accomplished vocal artist, Trijntje Oosterhuis is also the mother of two sons. Leaving for Vienna on Sunday the 10th of May, Mother’s Day, thus had a special significance for the singer:

My sons congratulated me early in the morning, they presented me with beautiful drawings.

Trijntje Oosterhuis will not be seperated from her children for long though, they will join her in Vienna next week.
