On 1st February, the first edition of the MIA awards will be held in Belgium. The awards have been created to honour Flemish musicians and their contirbution to the Belgian music industry. Broadcaster VRT and Muziekcentrum Vlaanderen have recently revealed the nominees in the twelve categories and in the list, some Eurovision Song Contest related atists can be found:

Best solo artist

  • Natalia

Natalia took part in Eurosong 2004, where she finished second with her song Higher than the sun.

Best group

  • Clouseau

Clouseau had aleady taken part in the 1989 Belgian national final and finished 2nd with the song Anne before in 1991 they presented all three songs in the Belgian final, where Geef het op was the winner. In Rome, the group only finished 16th but remained one of the most popular bands in Belgium.

  • Natalia
  • Clouseau

Best song

  • Kate Ryan – Voyage, voyage
  • Trust – Anders

Kate Ryan won Eurosong 2006 with Je t'adore and represented Belgium in the semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens where she finished 12th and did not make it to the final. Trust represented Belgium in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest four weeks ago with the song Anders. They finished 15th (third last).
