The number of participating countries for EuroSong 2002 has been raised by the EBU with two. With Portugal and Isreal, 24 countries will be competing in Talinn.

Based their low results in Danmark, they would first been expelled from participation. But, during a meeting of the EBU Television Comittie on July 19, it was decided that the next two countries on the waiting list could also get the active status. The proposition to include to additional songs was frist mooted by a representative from Israeli television.

It's not enirely sure yet whether they will participate. Both the RTP as well as the IBA will still need to confirm their active participation.
