The fourth semi final of the Icelandic selection for the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest took place tonight. Three singers performed one song each and the winner was chosen by televoting: Davíð Þorsteinn Olgeirsson will take part in the national final on 16th February with his song In your dreams.

Davíð Þorsteinn Olgeirsson, who is also the composer of his entry, has already taken part in the 2006 Icelandicnational final. Back then, he reached the final with the song Strengjadans but finished out of the top seven of the remaining 15 acts. One of the two songs that have not qualified tonight – Lífsins leið by Áslaug Hálfdánardóttir and The picture by Þóra Gísladóttir – will get a second chance in the 12th week.

In 2005, 2006 and 2007, Iceland did not manage to reach the final of the Eurovision Song Contest although the country was sometimes quite close finishing 16th, 13th and again 13th in the semi final respectively. Iceland will havetake part in one of the semi finalsin Belgrade.
