It has been confirmed that Conchita Wurst will be appearing at the final of Melodifestivalen 2015, and a spectacular performance is promised!

The reigning Eurovision Song Contest champion from Austria, who soared to victory at Copenhagen 2014 with her entry Rise like a Phoenix, has recently been in Stockholm, where she met up with this year’s Melodifestivalen hosts Sanna Nielsen and Robin Paulson. 

 

The Executive Producer of Melodifestivalen, Christer Björkman, says of Conchita:

I cannot reveal exactly what she will do (at the final) but it will be spectacular and fun to watch. It was not difficult to secure Conchita’s participation, as Christer Björkman continues Conchita is a fan of Melodifestivalen like many other Eurovision fans and thinks it will be very enjoyable to be a part of the show.

The famous Melodifestivalen competition, which first took place in 1959, determines Sweden’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest.  Melodifestivalen 2014 was won by Sanna Nielsen, who took her powerful ballad Undo to third place at the Eurovision Grand Final in Copenhagen, finishing behind Conchita Wurst and The Common Linnets from The Netherlands.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 will take place at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna on 19th, 21st and 23rd May, and Conchita Wurst will be the Green Room host.
