BNT, the Bulgarian national broadcaster has tweeted via its official Eurovision Twitter account BNT  Eurovision that Bulgaria will once again sing the song of silence in 2015, thus confirming Bulgaria will not participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest next May.

Thus Bulgaria will be absent from the competition for a 2nd consecutive year in 2015, having missed out in 2014.

Bulgaria’s road to Eurovision 2015 has been marred by obstacles, the country initially applied to participate at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in September and then in October the broadcaster confirmed to ESCToday that it had decided to withdraw from the competition. Hereafter BNT confirmed to ESCToday that no final decision had been taken regarding the Bulgarian Eurovision participation due to the political situation in the country and it required to resolve its financial issues. Yesterday the broadcaster announced via its Eurovision Twitter account that Bulgaria would not be present in Vienna at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.

In 2014 Bulgaria withdrew from the competition due to budget cuts and financial reasons.  The last time we saw the country on stage at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2013 when Stoyan and Elitsa represented Bulgaria in Malmo with Samo Shampioni.

Bulgaria debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best placing at the Eurovision Song Contest was in 2007, when it achieved a 5th placing with Stoyan and Elitsa’s Voda!

The official list of participating countries at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is expected to be released by the EBU, by early January.

The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 19, 21 and 23 May at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria.
