Lordi, the band responsible for bringing the Eurovision Song Contest to Finland for the first time in history, gave a press conference today attracting great media interest. Lordi who according to Mr Lordi himself “turned from national shame to national heroes overnight'' spoke about last year's contest, their new manager, their USA tour, their new fim and their favourites in this year's contest.

The press conference started with the question about the treatment of Finnish media towards the band before and after the contest. Mr Lordi answered that they turned from "national shame to national heroes overnight and that is a good thing. Next thing they were asked was whether they watched last year's Eurovision Song Contest later and what were their thoughts : "Yes we did and we thought the semi final was better", they laughed.

Next they were asked by the Swedish press about their opinion of the Ark. Mr Lordi thinks they have excellent chances. All of his favourietes from the semi final were disqualified, we can assume he was referring to the rock entries that didn't make it, but he still has two favourites in the final: the Ark and Hanna. He went on to explain that his preference for Hanna has nothing to do with the fact that she is Finnish but it's all about his personal taste in music as leave me alone is the ''heaviest song in the competition". "If it was up to me to decide it would be The Ark or Hanna, but that's just me", he concluded.

Talking about their recent USA tour, Lordi said that they did not expect such a warm welcome by the Americans. "There were a lot of die hard fans, who knew all the lyrics and sang along with us" they enthused "but the biggest test is the Ozzfestival this coming summer.

Finally, the press asked Lordi what advice they had for Hanna: "I am the last person to give advice" Mr Lordi said "If you believe in yourself that is what you should do. If anyone likes it that is a plus".

Lordi will be performing tomorrow at the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest final.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
