ORF, the Austrian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Austria will select its 2015 Eurovision entry and representative via a national selection. The concept and format is yet to be determined by the Austrian broadcaster. More details will be released in due course.

In 2014 ORF selected both its Eurovision entry and representative via an internal selection. Conchita Wurst was selected via an internal selection with her entry Rise like a phoenix to fly the Austrian flag in Copenhagen.

The 2015 Austrian national selection is set to kick off in January and is scheduled to run until March. The Austrain broadcaster is currently evaluating and studying various different concepts and mechanisms in order to select the 2015 Austrian Eurovision entry and representative. ORF will be releasing more details on the 2015 Austrian national selection in the coming months.

ORF, the national Austrian broadcaster confirmed to ESCToday.com:

The Austrian contribution for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest will be selected via a national selection. The national selection will consist of  a multi-part series of shows where the 2015 Austrian Eurovision act will be determined. The shows will run from January to March,- enabling undiscovered talents and established artists to enter the competition. There are several interesting concepts on the table.

It will be very interesting to see who will follow into Conchita’s footsteps and defend the Austrian colours on home soil in Vienna next May. The 2015 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna on 19, 21 and 23 May.

Austria debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 with Bob Martin and has won the event twice in 1966 with Udo Jurgens’ Merci Cheri and in 2014 with Conchita Wurst’s Rise like a phoenix.
