MRT, the national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday.com that FYR Macedonia will participate at the forthcoming 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Austria next year. Hence being the first Balkan country to confirm its participation for next year’s Eurovision.
Thus FYR Macedonia is the 16th country to confirm its intention to participate at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest scheduled to be held in Austria next year. Hence FYR Macedonia joins Austria, Cyprus, Malta, Switzerland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Ireland, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Belgium and Estonia in the list of the countries that have confirmed their intention to participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest.
In 2014 MRT selected Tijana Dapcevic via an internal selection with her entry To the Sky to represent FYR Macedonia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen. Despite an energetic performance Tijana failed to qualify to the grand final.
In 2015 FYR Macedonia will select its entry via the 2014 Scopje Song Festival which is scheduled to be held on the 13 November with a total of 20 acts competing for the golden ticket to Austria. Hence the winner of the celebrated Scopje Song Festival will represent FYR Macedonia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest. The 2015 Macedonian Eurovision entry will be selected via a 50/50 public televoting- International jury deliberation.
FYR Macedonia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998 and is yet to win the event.
