The Swedish broadcaster SVT announced the national final, the Melodifestival, will be held on March 15 in the Globen Arena in Stockholm.

Composers have the time to submit their songs until October 15th. In November, 32 songs will be selected for the 4 pre-selections, which will all contain 8 songs. The final 8 songs will appear in the big final, which will be held in the Globen Arena in Stockholm, the same venue as Melodifestival 2002 and the Eurovision Song Contest 2000.

For this year, there are no big changes in the rules or the organisation. The main difference is that the performance during the Melodifestival must be the same as on the demo.
