Belarus: 15 acts will compete in national final in January

BTRC, the Belarusian national broadcaster has officially opened the submission period for artists and composers to submit their applications in order order to compete at the forthcoming 2014 Belarusian national final, scheduled to be held in January, with the date yet to be confirmed.

The 2014 Belarusian national selection will consist of 2 phases: auditions and national final. A total of 15 acts will be selected to compete at the 2014 Belarusian national final by a special jury. The Belarusian broadcaster has also released the rules and regulations for their forthcoming Eurovision 2014 national selection and national final.

BTRC, Belteleradiocompany has announced that it has started accepting applications for participation in the national selection for the  forthcoming 2014 Eurovision Song Contest.

The National Selection Round is organized by the National State TV and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus. The selection will be  held in compliance with the Regulation developed by the organizers and the rules and regulations of the contest established by the European Broadcasting Union.

The rules and regulations regarding the 2014 Belarusian Eurovision national selection can be found in the “Projects” section on BTRC’s official website. The official printed edition for information about the contest is “Belarus Today”. 

The Rules for the 2014 Belarusian National Selection

Citizens of Belarus, foreign citizens or people without citizenship residing on the Belarusian territory are eligible part in the contest.

Any song (music or text) that has not been commercially used, distributed on the Internet or on any other media (audio cassettes, CD, mini-discs), or delivered by means of sale or any other way for broadcast in TV and radio , performed in public before September 1, 2013, can qualify for the contest. The maximum running time of the song shall be 3 minutes.

Applications for the contest can be sent via registered mail  to the following address: Makayonka Street 9, Minsk, 220807, with a note “National selection round for Eurovision 2014 song contest”. The last day for accepting  applications is November 24, 2013. 

The project will be held in 2 stages: auditions and the final. Before November 29 a special professional jury will hold auditions with the participants and select no more than 15 participants for the final.

The grand final of the Belarusian Eurovision national selection round will be held in January 2014 as a televised show. The participant, who will score the greatest number of points as a result of the vote by the professional jury and the audience, will become the official representative of the Republic of Belarus at the 2014 Eurovision 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen, Denmark. 

Belteleradiocompany, as the sole Belarusian member of the European Broadcasting Union, will be in charge of the organization of the selection of round and preparation of the Belarusian representative for Eurovision-2014.

Earlier this month BTRC confirmed to esctoday.com that Belarus will participate at the forthcoming  2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen next May.

Belarus debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and is yet to win the event. The country’s best result in the contest was in 2007 with Koldun‘s Work your magic, when Belarus placed 6th.

Alyona Lanskaya represented Belarus at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with Solayoh achieving a 16th place in the grand final.
