Iceland’s national broadcaster, Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV) has announced a deadline for submission of songs for Söngvakeppnin 2014.

A short message on RÚV’s official website invites songwriters to submit their entries by midnight on Monday 7 October 2013. The eventual winner of the competition will win 1,000,000 Icelandic krona, as well as the right to represent Iceland at next year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen.

Eythor Ingi, the winner of last year’s national selection, went on to represent his country in Malmö with Ég á líf, eventually placing 17th with 47 points.

Lee has been a huge fan of Eurovision since about 1990 and has a particular penchant for France, Iceland and Bosnia-Herzegovina.
