This Sunday, Barbara Dex will feature as one of the seven participants in the second qualifier round in the Belgian selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Eurosong 2006. In 1993 she represented Belgium with Iemand als jij and even had an award named after her.

Barbara Dex could become the first female artist to sing the Flemish-Belgian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest for a second time. Barbara Dex is taking part with Crazy this year, a song written by André Remkes and Alidus Hidding. The latter was Barbara's vocal partner in Eurosong 2004. “It is mostly for the kick and the pleasure I get out of it! It is also a perfect programme for an artist to promote their music but, ultimately, I'm also in it for the ticket to Athens”, she said when asked why she participates for the third time.

Internationally, Barbara Dex went down in history thanks to the famous dress at the 1993 contest. “I can look back and laugh about it now. Actually, I still do not regret it but, at that time, it was hard to accept that people were making fun of the dress. It is a song contest after all”, she said. About the Barbara Dex award, an award for the worst styling/clothing at the Eurovision Song Contest, launched by fans, she says: “There's nothing wrong with it (…) everyone knows me now”.

The 31-year old singer is currently working on a new album.
