As we reported yesterday, Selma was seriously considering RUV's offer to represent Iceland at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. Today RUV confirmed that Iceland's 1999 Eurovision Song Contest representative Selma will be back to represent Iceland in Kiev!
Selma Björnsdóttir saw for Iceland's top ranking in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 1999 she finished second with the song All out of luck. This year she'll be trying it a second time. In co-operation with Thorvaldur Bjarni Thorvaldsson, the composer of All out of luck, a song for Kiev will be selected.
On tonight's news broadcast, Selma revealed that she will go for an up-tempo song, with dancers and a big show. However she asked the Icelandic people to keep both feet on the ground and not to expect too much of her. “The contest is so much different from the way it was 6 years ago,” explains Selma, who doesn't have too high expectations herself. “One step at a time. First one is to get through the qualifier round.“
