Latvia selected the representative for Junior Eurovision Song Contest tonight. In the final of Eirovizijas Bernu dziesmu konkurss 2004, broadcast live from Ventspils, the Latvians selected Martins Talbergs with song Balts vai melns (Black Or White).

Martins Talbergs (14) will represent Latvia with his song Balts vai melns at the second Junior Eurovision Song Contest to be held in Lillehammer, Norway. Martins Talbergs already has Junior Eurovision experience as he supported Dzintars Cica, who represented Latvia at the first Junior Eurovision Song Contest and reached 9th position, as backing singer.

The Top 3 of Latvian Junior composers and songs:

1. Martins Talbergs – Balts vai melns (Black Or White) – 6317 votes
2. Evita Gzibovska – Nac dziedi, dejo lidzi! (Come To Sing And Dance With Us) – 4667 votes
3. Ralfs Eilands – Dziesmina par merkaki (A Song About A Monkey) – 3557 votes

Ten songs competed for the ticket to Lillehammer. During the televote 23638 voters have expressed their choice to select the winner. C-Stones (“When The Rain Will go” Latvian National Final 2003, “All You Know”, 2004) and Dzintars Cica performed to support the new talents.

All the participants received presents from the organisers: a CD player, Marie N's new album Noslepums (Secret), and C – Stones album Friday Night Forever.
