Germany will select its representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 on 12 March. This information was given on eurovision.de, broadcaster NDR's official homepage concerning the contest.

Like this year, the semifinal or qualifier round of the Eurovision Song Contest will be shown on regional channel Nord Drei and not on the first national channel Das Erste. However, via satellite and cable, Nord Drei can be seen in most parts of Germany. Due to a good result in 2004 and being part of the so-called “Big Four”, Germany is directly qualified for the final in Kiev.

No further details about the German national final are released yet.
