Sandra Dahlberg wins Baltic Song Contest

Sandra Dahlberg, one of the finalists at Melodifestivalen 2004 has won the Baltic Song Contest with the song Jag är här. The second place was for Gil Bonden from Norway. Niklas Andersson, another Melodifestivalen 2004 participant came third.

Sandra Dahlberg has won the Baltic Song Contest that took place from 14th until 17th July in Karlshamn, Sweden. With the song Jag är här she defeated Gil Bonden from Norway and Niklas Andersson, another Swede. Sandra Dahlberg and Niklas Andersson both participated at this year's Melodifestivalen. With Här stannar jag kvar, only Sandra Dahlberg could qualify for the final.

The Baltic Song Contest is the highlight of a festival taking place in Karlshamn each summer. The majority of participants are solo artists or groups from the countries bordering the Baltic. When it first started the Baltic Song Contest was seen as a way of bringing together the different peoples around the Baltic. Today it has become the Karlshamn Baltic Festival�s very own song contest.

The Baltic Song Contest has already been won by several Eurovision Song Contest participants:

� 1995: Justyna Steczkowska from Poland
� 1998: Brainstorm from Latvia
� 2001: Ich Troje from Poland

F.L.Y., Piasek, Arnis Mednis and Edyta Górniak once reached the top 3 of the festival.
