Barbara Dex: new single, album and… baby!

Belgium's Barbara Dex is living proof that a last place at the Eurovision Song Contest doesn't have to mean the end of one's career. In 1993 she shocked the world by wearing a somewhat distasteful dress when she performed Lemand als jij in Millstreet, Ireland.

However coming last has had few consequences on her career in Flanders. Since 1993 she has released seven albums in varying styles. Barbara Dex was also a regular guest on a variety of music programmes on Flemish TV.

However this year tops it all. Her Eurosong 2004 entry One Life, that she sang together with Alides Hidding, reached the final and charted for 10 weeks. In the Ultratop chart the song reached number 11. Record company, Sony Music Belgium, was extremely satisfied with this result and decided to release Barbara's new summer single Lost in heaven.

On the single, available in Belgian shops since last week, there is a radio and acoustic version of Lost in heaven. For the first time in her career, Barbara Dex sung on the stage of Flanders' biggest music show, Tien Om Te Zien.

On top of that all Barbara Dex will give birth to her second baby at the end of 2004 and later go on to release a new album, scheduled for 2005!
