Next week's Icelandic semifinal and all eurofans will be missing Sigurjón Brink, who passed away a few days ago at the age of 36. Nonetheless, his spirit will be kept alive as the song he was to perform will be sung by his friends, at the request of Sigurjón's family.
After his sudden death last Tuesday, it was unclear whether RÚV would replace the song or narrow down the number of competing acts to 4. Finally, and following the wish of Sigurjón's family and friends, the song Aftur heim (Back home) will be performed and therefore remains in the race.
This will no doubt be one of the landmarks of this year's Icelandic selection and the whole Eurovision Song Contest season.
