State television of Montenegro RTCG applied to participate in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. This may be seen as a move to secure their participation spot next year in Düsseldorf, although the broadcaster reserves the right to withdraw their application before December 25th as they are undergoing severe budget problems.

The potential representative of Montenegro to the Eurovision Song Contest should be able to find sponsors to fund their participation themselves, and would be chosen according to RTCG's own criteria. A final decision is still pending due to the broadcaster's budget limitations, and is expected by December 21th.

December 25th is the deadline to withdraw a country's Eurovision application without any punishment from the EBU. We will have to wait for a few more days to know the Adriatic country's decision as to send or not a representative to Düsseldorf.

Montenegro has participated three times in Eurovision since their debut in 2007. In none of them the country managed to qualify for the final. Last representative was Andrea Demirovic with Just get out of my life in 2009. The year after, RTCG withdrew.
