About Festivali i Këngës
The Festivali i Këngës was founded by broadcaster RTSH in 1963, making it one of the longest running music competitions in Europe.
Since 2003, the winner of the Festivali i Këngës also wins the right to represent Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest. The 2003 edition was won by Anjeza Shahini, who subsequently reached a respectable 7th place for Albania’s debut at Eurovision 2004, earning 106 points with her entry The image of you.
The Festivali i Këngës 2016 was won by Albanian-Kosovar singer Lindita Halimi (commonly known simply as Lindita, and also as Linda Halimi) with her entry Botë, written by herself and Big Basta, composed and produced by Klodian Qafoku.
At the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine, Lindita performed the English version of Botë, titled World. Unfortunately, despite a powerful performance, the artist did not go through to the Grand Final. Lindita placed 14th out of 18 contestants in Semi-Final 1, receiving 76 points.
