Another set of successful results are in from tonight’s episode of Israel’s The Next Star, in which a total of 5 artists have advanced to the next stage of the Eurovision national selection.

This evening saw a total of 8 artists auditioning on The Next Star in Israel, with hopes of advancing in the competition with the eventual chance of representing the nation at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.

Competitors had to impress both the audience together with the 4-member judging panel, with hopes of accumulating the 70% of the ‘Yes’ vote needed in order to advance to the next stage.

Five artists advance

Whilst 8 artists auditioned in tonight’s show, only 5 managed to qualify to the next show of the contest.

  • Ela Rubal (70%, ‘Yes’ from 3 judges)
  • Ha Ostri (73%, ‘Yes’ from 3 judges)
  • Sarit Hativa (61%*, ‘Yes’ from 3 judges)
  • Shelli Mogilevsky (73%, ‘Yes’ from 2 judges)
  • Nissim Black (73%, ‘Yes’ from all 4 judges)

*Whilst Sarit Hativa received under the asking 70% of the ‘Yes’ vote, a new twist in the show saw the 2 hosts, Assi Azar and Rotem Sela, save the artist and therefore advance to the next stage.

Yam Perets, David Cohen and David Zamudio failed to advance in tonight’s Next Star episode.

The final auditionee in this evening’s show was musician Nissim Black who, despite receiving criticism for not performing completely live, gained the ‘Yes’ vote from all 4 judges and qualified to the next stage of the competition.

The judges, however, expressed their desire to see the musician performing completely live in his next performance on the show. Check out Black’s performance on The Next Star!
