Yerevan has set its eyes on the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. AMPTV, the Armenian national broadcaster has kicked off its 2018 Eurovision project.

Eurovision fever is about to hit Armenia as it gears up for yet another Eurovision season.

AMPTV will be selecting its Eurovision act and entry via Depi Evratesil for the second consecutive time. Artists wishing to participate in the competition can send in their application to the Armenian broadcaster until 15 December 2017.

In the 2nd season of Depi Evratesil, the singers will be able to perform their own songs and take the song to Eurovision 2018 in case of winning. The song must be written specially for the project or not performed before.

AMPTV has confirmed to ESCToday that 2018 Depi Evratesil shows will be aired on AMPTV Channel 1 throughout the upcoming month of February. More details will be released in due course. The 2018 Armenian national selection will run for a whole month.

Armenia in Eurovision

Armenia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in Athens in 2006 and is yet to win the competition. Sirusho and Aram Mp3 retain the country’s best results to date, both having achieved a 4th place in the Grand Final respectively in 2008 and 2014.

In 2017, Armenia launched a national selection Depi Evratesil in order to select its Eurovision act and entry for Kyiv. Artsvik won the Armenian national selection and flew to Kyiv with Fly with me, where she placed 18th in the Grand Final.

The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 8, 10 and 12 May in Lisbon, Portugal.
