RTCG, the Montenegrin national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Montenegro intends to join the Eurovision party next year and has submitted the required paperwork to the EBU in order to participate at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. The broadcaster is yet to officially confirm its participation.

RTCG has applied to compete at the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Portugal and there is no reason to believe that we will not see the Balkan country in the contest next year. Montenegro is yet to determine the mechanism it will use to select its Eurovision act and entry if it is to participate in Lisbon. The country has had a long tradition of selecting its Eurovision hopeful via an internal selection.

More details and information is expected to be released in due course.

In 2017 Slavko  Kalezić was selected via an internal selection by the Montenegrin broadcaster to fly to Kyiv. He represented his homeland with  Space, despite a catchy peformance he failed to qualify to the Grand Final.

Montenegro in Eurovision

Montenegro debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 as a solo country and is yet to win the competition. The country has only made it twice to the Grand Final (2014, 2015), whilst its best result to date is a 13th place achieved by Knez in Vienna.
