In 2017, the Austrian broadcaster selected Nathan Trent to defend the Austrian colours at the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv with his entry Running on air. The multi-talented young artist achieved a 16th placing in the Grand Final.

Austria in Eurovision

Austria debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 and has won the competition twice in 1966 with Udo Jurgens and in 2014 with Conchita Wurst.

Since Conchita’s victory in 2014, the nation has always managed to qualify to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest, alternating their selections processes between both national and internal selections.

Eurovision 2018

The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 8, 10 and 12 May in Lisbon, Portugal.

The deadline for broadcasters to officially apply for Eurovision 2018 concludes by mid September. Hereafter, countries have a grace period to confirm their participation or withdraw their application without a penalty.

The final list of the 2018 Eurovision participating countries is expected to be released by the EBU later during the year.
