In 2017, Triana Park won Supernova and was awarded the golden ticket to Kyiv. Despite an energetic performance, the group failed to qualify to the Grand Final. LTV will be disclosing more details regarding their 2018 Eurovision plans in due course.
Latvia in Eurovision
Latvia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2000 with Brainstorm and went on to win the competition in 2002 with Marie N.
Latvia has received mixed results in the years the follow, including a 6 year non-qualification streak. However, the introduction of the country’s national selection Supernova has seen a change in results for the nation, with 2 Top 15 placings in both 2015 and 2016.
The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 8, 10 and 12 May in Lisbon, Portugal.
The deadline for broadcasters to officially apply for Eurovision 2018 concludes by mid September. Hereafter, countries have a grace period to confirm their participation or withdraw their application without a penalty.
The final list of the 2018 Eurovision participating countries is expected to be released by the EBU later during the year.
