The Maltese broadcaster PBS is now calling for interested authors and composers to submit entries to the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2017, where the Maltese entry to Eurovision 2017 will be chosen.
Interested authors and composers from all over the world are welcome to submit their entries, however, the artist or the main artist in a band must hold a Maltese citizenship. Submissions must be handed on 30 November between 09:00-12:00 and 14:00-16:00 at PBS’ Creativity Hub in Guardmangia in a sealed envelope. Interested parties wishing to get the full rules and forms needed for submission may do so by sending an email to mesc2017@pbs.com.mt.
For the first time since 2006, The Maltese selection will be made of one show only. A total of sixteen songs will participate in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2017 that will be held in February. The participating entries will be announced later this year, in December.
Malta was represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 by Ira Losco and her song Walk on water. She finished 12th in the final, after getting the 4th place from the national juries and the 21st place from the televoters. The mediterranean island still has to win the contest, managing to get the second place in 2002 by Ira Losco herself and 2005.
