Eurovision 2017: Host city bidding race to kick off after Geneva meeting

NTU, the Ukrainian national broadcaster has confirmed today that the official race for the 2017 Eurovision host city will kick off after the EBU- NTU meeting in Geneva.

Where are we heading for Eurovision 2017? Kyiv? Lviv? Odessa? Kherson? …..

Around 6-7 cities across Ukraine have showcased their interest to host the Eurovision extravaganza next year, with Kyiv and Lviv being the hot favorites and front runners to belt the honour of hosting our beloved contest in 2017.

NTU’s Eurovision committee will be having a special meeting with the EBU and the Eurovision 2017 Supervisory Board on 12-13 June in Geneva. The Ukrainian broadcaster will get more information and details regarding the organization of the contest and the requirements for hosting the event. Hereafter NTU will open the call for cities to officially bid for hosting the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, upon its return from Geneva and determine the kick off date.

The official annoucement of the 2017 ESC host city is expected to be announced by NTU and the EBU in the course of the summer.

The first meeting between NTU and the EBU regarding Eurovision 2017 was held on 1 June in Kyiv.

The preliminary dates for the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest have been set on 16, 18 and 20 May.

Jamala won the 2016 ESC with her entry 1944, thus bringing back the contest to Ukrainian soil for the 2nd time in ESC history.
