Eurovision 2016: SVT offers Måns Zelmerlöw to host Eurovison

Less than three weeks ago, Måns Zelmerlöw told ESCToday that he would be honoured to host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, if SVT would offer him to do so. Today, the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet confirms that it did happen!

“It’s only the formalities that are left”, says a source, but Måns himself set requirements for SVT regarding hosting the contest. It’s important for him to show his artistic side during the live shows, other than his presenting abilities that were already shown to the Swedish public by hosting Melodifestivalen 2010 and the Swedish summer music show Allsång på Skansen for three years (2011-2013).

It is also unknown if Måns will get the whole stage for himself or will have a co-host or someone in the greenroom to help him. SVT currently works on building the two semifinals and the grand final, but it will take a few months to know what exactly we are going to see on the Globe Arena’s stage in Stockholm. Some of the feminine names that are speculated are Petra Mede, who hosted Eurovision 2013 by herself, Sanna Nielsen, Sweden’s representative for Eurovision 2014, and Gina Dirawi who co-hosted Melodifestivalen in 2012 and 2013.
