DR, the Danish national broadcaster has revealed today that a total of 982 entries have been submitted in order to compete at the forthcoming Danish national final, thus breaking an all time record. This is the largest number of songs ever received bidding to represent Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Danish broadcaster is pleased and happy with the outcome of the DMGP 2016 song submission. DR will now have the hard task of shortlisting 10 songs from the 982 entries received. A total of 10 acts will battle for the golden ticket to Stockholm. The 2016 Danish Eurovision final is scheduled to be held on Saturday 13 February at Horsens Forum in Horsens, Jylland, Denmark.

Denmark has won the Eurovision Song Contest thrice and hosted it thrice in Copenhagen. The country debuted in the Eurovision in 1957. In 2015 Anti Social Media represented the country with their entry The way you are. Unfortunately the boys failed to qualify to the grand final in Vienna.

The 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at Stockholm’s Globe Arena.
