The Polish national broadcaster TVP has decided to disqualify Noc Kupaly from Piosenka dla Europy, the Polish national final for Eurovision Song Contest. The song submitted by one of the wildcard holders, the folk band Zywiolak, violates the rules, having been performed before the set 1st October date.

Noc kupaly, which was the first entry in the running order for Piosenka dla Europy, had already been performed under a different title during the Festival of Four Cultures in Polandin which Zywiolak participated.

TVP also informs that there will be no replacement in the national final and 12 songs will compete for the right to represent Poland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade. They will retain their running order numbers chosen during the draw in the headquarters of the Polish TVP in January.

Piosenka dla Europy 2008 will take place on 23rd February in Warsaw.
