Hungary: Duna confirms participation in Eurovision 2016

Duna Service Media Provider, the national Hungarian broadcaster has confirmed that Hungary will participate at the forthcoming 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm.

Thus Hungary is the 38th country to confirm its participation at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, scheduled to be held on 10, 12 and 14 May at the Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Hungary will yet again select its Eurovision entry and act via its traditional national selection A Dal. Artists wishing to enter the competetion can submit their respective entries to Duna until 25 November. Duna Service Media Provider has published the rules and regulations for A Dal 2016 here. Both A Dal and the 3 shows of the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will be aired on Duna. Thus both the Hungarian national selection A Dal and the Eurovision Song Contest will move next year from M1 to Duna.

Hungary selected its Eurovision act and entry via its annual Eurovision national selection A Dal in 2015. Boggie won the 2015 Hungarian Eurovision national final with her entry Wars for nothing placing 2oth in the grand final in Vienna.

Hungary debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 with Frederika Bayer and is yet to win the event. The country’s best placing in the contest was achieved the very same year it debuted in the competition, namely in 1994 when Frederika Bayer placed 4th with her entry Kinek mondjam al vetkeimet.
