Austria: Conchita goes platinum and charts at #1

The Queen of Austria aka Conchita Wurst is flying high these days. Her debut album Conchita has gone platinum and is charting at #1 on the Austrian charts.

It is already a year since Conchita mesmerised Europe and won the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhangen. Conchita has come a long way since her Eurovision victory having travelled across the globe and performed in many television shows and events worldwide.

She had the honour of co-hosting the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest from Vienna.  She has the face of the 2015 Lifeball and the cover girl for its official poster. Her voice was heard throughout Vienna during the Eurovision Song Contest on the public transport: train stations, trams, trains etc.

On May 15 the debut album of Conchita Wurst was released. In her debut album Conchita the 2014 Austrian Eurovision winner showcases her musical range, be it a power ballad, dance floor music, swing or pop.

Conchita tops a remarkable and successful year with her first long-player. Her fans have always been on her side, be it in Paris, Sydney, Los Angeles or London. She appeared at the Life Ball 2015 and at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna. There she hosted the Green Room and performed Firestorm and You Are Unstoppable.

On May 21 Conchita was honored with the Platinum Award for her debut album. The award was handed over as a surprise during a press conference at the Wiener Stadthalle by Dietmar Lienbacher, Division Head of Sony Music Austria.We must not forget that her album entered the Austrian musical charts directly at #1.

Conchita isn’t only successful in Austria, her fame and name have crossed frontiers and reached lands far and away. The iTunes trends are remarkable worldwide. The album reached Top 10 in 12 countries whilst in  15 other countries it reached Top 30.

Conchita  has sent a special message to her fans today:

I called on my fans The Unstoppables and they proved it! Receiving a Platinum Award just a few days after the release of my album and entering the charts directly at #1  position make me speechless. I just want to say, Thank you.

Dietmar Lienbacher goes on to add:
