SVT, the national Swedish broadcaster is in full steam ever since Sweden won the 60th Eurovision Song Contest last week. The 2016 host broadcaster has the great responsibility of organizing and hosting the Eurovision extravanganza next year.

SVT has started working round the clock in order to set up a plan of action and schedule for the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest. The Swedish broadcaster has the knowledge and experience of having hosted the event in Malmo 2 years ago.

SVT is currently working on the 2016 Eurovision project and will be evaluating and selecting the persons and teams resposible for the various tasks and project involved in hosting the event

The Swedish broadcaster will now have to select the 2016 ESC Core Team, the Executive Producer for the show, the Stage Design, the Stage and Creative Directors for the show along with their respective teams, the Eurovision team, the 2016 Eurovision theme art, logo and slogan etc.

In the coming weeks the cities and venues interested in hosting the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest will have to prepare their offers along with the required documentation/data etc to SVT. In about 3 weeks from now the bidding cities will submit their applications, hereafter in about 4 weeks from now SVT will study and evaluate all the applicants and an annoucement regarding the 2016 host city is expected to be made by mid summer- early August.

Petra Mede hosted the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo, SVT reports on its official website that Christer Bjorkman has said that she might be also involved in ESC 2016. Christer also goes on to say that the 2016 host city will be selected after an open call for the 2016 host city, where all cities wishing to bid will be invited to submit their respective applications. All cities have 3 weeks to prepare their respective bids along with their venues.

SVT’s Martin Österdahl, the executive producer of the 2013 ESC has already started putting pen on paper and has started working on the forthcoming Eurovsision 2016 project.

Work has already started on the 2016 stage design eventhough the host city and venue have not been selected yet. This will save time, money and anxiety. The 2016 Eurovision staging will require a small budget like in Malmo 2 years back. SVT is not opting for a lavish stage which could be costly. The 2013 Eurovision stage was functional and varied and worked very well.

Sweden was among the bookies hot favourites from the moment  Måns Zelmerlöw won the 2015 Melodifestivalen last March with his entry Heroes. Thus SVT already started to do its homework in the scenario if it was to win the competition and host the event in 2016.
