Austria: Conchita gets a medal and features on Life Ball’s official poster

The Queen of  Austria aka Conchita Wurst has a super hectic schedule ahead of her, not only she will be hosting the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest shows from the Greenrom, she will be featuring on Life Ball’s official poster and a special medal featuring the Eurovision winner will be minted and released.

Yes its true Conchita Wurst will be the face of  the 2015 Lifeball. Internationally acclaimed German photographer Ellen von Unwerth has photographed the Queen of Austria as Gustav Klimt’s Golden Adele.

In the poster our beloved Eurovision Queen is seen wearing a golden robe decorated with 13,000 Swarovski crystals and has taken 1,250 working hours of handwork to make. The extraordinary and elaborate dress is on display at the Swarovski store in Vienna’s Kärntner Straße. The dress also features a 24 Karat gold leaf in its finest craftmanship.

The poster will be auctioned on 16 May at the AIDS Solidarity Gala before the Life Ball Festival

The Conchita Medal

To celebrate Life Ball 2015 the Austrian Mint will release a special gold plated silver medal (40mm, 20g) designed by Helmut Andexlinger based on a photo by Ellen von Unwerth: ‪Conchita Wurst- Klimt’s new woman.  The special medal  will cost 88€ and 40€ of that will be donated to AIDS LIFE.

Eurovision Song Contest winner Conchita Wurst who with her rallying cry ” We are unstoppable”, became an icon of tolerance and open mindedness now becomes one of the most famous women in art history – Gustav Klimt’s Golden Adele. As the 23rd Life Ball infuses Vienna’s City Hall with gold on 16 May 2015, this medal fuses two famous figures: Adele Bloch-Bauer, immortalized in Klimt’s famous painting, and Tom Neuwirth, immortalized in his alter ego, Conchita Wurst.

Conchita has busy days ahead of her as the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest approaches. The Austrian Eurovision winner will be be busy travelling accross Europe with ViennaSphere, she was in Barcelona last week and is scheduled to fly to Milano, Berlin, London and Paris in the coming weeks. She will also be recording her voice for the Viennese transport agencies, as visitors in Vienna will be able to hear her voice on trams, trains and train stations during the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest.
