Sweden: Melodifestivalen voting results revealed

We have had six weeks of shows, which took place across Sweden. Two artists won each heat to go direct to the final and two others went to the Second Chance round and a winner was decided last Saturday. The Swedish broadcaster made public the voting results of the final.

Everybody wonders how close the competition was, who won each round and even who came last and svt.se/melodifestivalen has published the details. Throughout the series of programmes a grand total of 14,426,739 votes were cast.

It will be no surprise that Mariette, Jon Henrik Fjällgren and Måns Zelmerlöw were all winners of their rounds but the winner who did not take one of the four top places in the grand final was Eric Saade. He came fifth, behind Hasse Andersson, albeit by one point in total, but the public vote shows that he got less than half of those for his competitor.

Back to the results from the heats.

Dolly Style, Samir & Viktor, Andreas Weise and Hasse Andersson qualified for the Andra Chansen by attaining third place with Behrang feat. Victor Crone, Linus Svenning, Kristin Amparo and Dinah Nah achieving fourth place, and so making up the eight duels.

Magnus Carlsson’s path direct to the final was extremely close as he only collected 434 votes more that he needed. Otherwise Samir & Viktorr would have been the lucky ones.

The artist with the biggest share of the vote in their heat was Eric Saade, who achieved 36.71%, next came Måns Zelmerlöw with 30% and it was he who captured 771,423 votes in his heat. That was the largest total in any of the shows. Across the years of Melodifestivalen Måns didn’t beat the telephone votes of Loreen.

At the bottom of the phone votes total was JTR with just over fourteen thousand. The smallest for any artist since 2001.
