The Festival da Canção week comes to an end this evening. Portugal will decide which of the six finalists shall represent the country in the Wiener Stadthalle in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, and hopefully in the Grand Final, too.
About the show
The Portuguese national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 will hold its final gala tonight. The six contenders that succeeded in qualifying in the two semi-finals will meet tonight in the last tournament for the ticket to Vienna as Portugal’s representative in Eurovision this year.
Tonight the Portuguese broadcaster RTP will televise the final of the Festival da Canção, which comes at the end of a week that has teemed with feverish Eurovision-related activities and notable news… And which is not over yet.
In line with the semi-finals format, which were dedicated to the history of the Festival and Eurovision, the final of the Festival da Canção will look back on the life of the Portuguese musician Zé da Ponte, who passed away last January. He was 60 years old. Zé da Ponte was a composer, bassist and producer who was involved in a number of music-related projects and who also left his footprint in the Festival da Canção and the Eurovision Song Contest composing the Portuguese entries Amar (Eurovision 2005), the unforgettable Lusitana paixão (Eurovision 1991) and Não sejas mau para mim (Eurovision 1986).
The gala will be host by Júlio Isidro and Catalina Furtado.
The audience will have the chance to see the performances of the six finalists once more. After that, the winner will be selected exclusively through televoting.
The six finalists who qualified at the semi-finals and who will be competing for the ticket to Austria are these (the running order may be different):
- Leonor Andrade – Há um mar que nos separa
- Yola Dinis – Outra vez primavera
- Gonçalo Tavares – Tu tens uma mágica
- Teresa Radamanto – Um fado em Viena
- Simone de Oliveira – À espera das canções
- José Freitas – Mal menor (Ninguém me guia à razão)

Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest
Portugal participated in 1964 for the fist time in the Eurovision Song Contest. One of the finalists tonight could be the first winner for the country, as it has not yet reached the first position in a final. Portugal’s best result was the sixth place attained by Lúcia Moniz in 1996. This year the Iberian country will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in the second semi-final.
