CyBC have received a total of 67 entries for the Cypriot preselection which will decide their 2008 candidate for the Eurovision Song Contest. The songs will go through a preliminary selection by a seven-member jury this Saturday.

A seven-member jury will be deciding this weekend which of the 67 entires received in total by the Cypriot broadcaster will proceed to the next phase. Following various heated reactions in the local press in the past years about the way the country's representatives were selected, this year three representatives of the press and media have been included in the jury.

The Cypriot final will take place on 12 January and the winner will be decided by a mixture of televote and jury vote at a 60-40 split. The jury on the night of the final will comprise the current members with the addition of two guest members.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
