Another chapter in the story of Conchita Wurst’s life has started. The phenomenal rise from an aspiring singer, not that long ago, to a worldwide phenomenon is in print in Germany.

The book, entitled I, Conchita: My story. We are unstoppable follows the agony and the ecstasy, the pain and the pleasure of this unique Austrian’s life.

On Monday 2 March 2015 she appeared at Berlin‘s Soho House hotel. Conchita talked frankly and honestly about the newspaper interview when she [Tom] came out, and explained that this was even before her parents knew.

In an article in dw.de, Kate Brady quotes her as saying:

It wasn’t done unwillingly, I had this short moment of, ‘what do I do now? Do I lie or am I my own person?’ So I decided to say what it was.

I wouldn’t recommend that, if anyone is thinking of doing so. Not the newspaper first and then the parents. Her suggestion was that – The other way round is somehow nicer.

The article goes on to quote from an Austrian radio interview on Ö3 where she related the hostile experiences she encountered as a child:

Whispering behind my back, insults shouted after me. At school here seemed to just mockers and homophobes.

The book is also due to be released in French on 5 May 2015 and English on 7 May 2015.

Her new single You are unstoppable has already been played on the radio but the official iTunes release will be on 5 March 2015.

I attended my first Eurovision Song Contest in 1995, and from 1996 presented daily live reports for radio stations from the event. Since then I have been providing material from everywhere the contest has been held. I also enjoy compiling most of the video materials for three UK ESC events each year. In 2010 I first provided material for esctoday.com.
